First of all, please don't get upset because this is just my OPINION, but I think Chartreuse is a terrible name for a couple reasons. Number 1, because (I think) it's a horrible color...sort of a cross between a neon yellow and a lime green. Number 2, because I like more typical, old fashioned people names (Emily, Jane, Rebekah). It seems to be all the rage these days to name your children after inanimate objects, colors, greenery, etc. Keep this in mind... My grandmother recently retired from a hospital where she was an ob nurse in labor and delivery. She asked one of her last deliveries before she retired what she was going to name her beautiful baby girl (and the girl truly WAS beautiful, according to grandma) and the woman said "Placentia". Now, take out the "i" and you have placenta. My grandmother tried and tried and tried to talk with this woman and explain to her what she was doing to her child, and the woman wouldn't hear of it. Can you imagine this girl when she gets into probably junior high or high school? To make a long story short, I'd consider crossing Chartreuse off your list.
: We had names picked out before I got pregnant. We decided that now we don't like the name we had for a boy but still like the name Chartruece (shar-truce), but there's some things we DONT like about it. First off it's a color that a year ago no one had heard of and just this spring it was declared "the hottest spring color" in a few magazines. We don't want a little girl to be thought of as a color. Do you think it'll fade back into nothing again before she starts school? Or will it bring up some poking-fun when she does? I remember this poor kid named Silver at our school that everyone called Crayon or Gold. Kids can be mean. Also we do not like the nickname Char and are afraid that will become her nickname. We can't think of any given nicknames that we could give her. Any suggestions? Given all the problems the name brings, I'm thinking maybe we should pick a different name? What do you think?
