: Well, ladies, I'm about to have to run for a while, but I just wanted you all (whoever's here this weekend) to know what happened this morning.
: I was outside painting the little shelves for the nursery (yes, it was a well ventilated area) when all of a sudden my dog started crying and squirming. I looked up and she was COVERED with wasps/jellow jackets. Since I have a MAJOR fear of these insects I got up to run, but being in my 8th months I couldn't get going. I fell over twice scraping up my knee and my hangs. I was screaming and screaming, "OH NO! OH NO!" I felt so helpless unable to get to my dog (only 13 lbs) and she was really hurting. As soon as I finally got up off the ground and inside she came running after me--bringing the wasps with her. DH came running out of the study slamming closed the door and checking to see if I was okay--but I was just crying and screaming over our dog who looked like she could hardly walk. She was really hurting--and I was afraid she was dying. We called the vet hospital and they said to bring her in immediately (apparently a dog in the area died recently from multiple bee stings). By the time we made it to the vet her right eye was extremely swollen and she was having a difficult time walking. :o( The vet gave her three injections. I know that two were benadryl and a steroid, but I'm not sure what the other one was. They said she'd be sore for a while and they wanted to hear from me on Monday. They gave us the emergency hospital number incase we have to take her in tonight.
: My dog is almost 16 years old, now. For those of you who have had a pet for this long, you know how near and dear they are to you. It didn't even occur to me that I needed to be checked, as well, until I started cramping through my abdomen and feeling a little sick in my stomach. I called my doctor's emergency number and she told me that as long as I didn't fall directly on my abdomen while trying to get up and as long as I wasn't bleeding or having bad abdominal cramps, it was okay. Also, she was pleased to hear that I was feeling her move around in there. She said that was a good sign.
: Anyway, it was a very scary morning. I think the excitement just all got to me. I don't have a lot of energy now--I just want to do absolutely nothing the rest of the day. VERY scary!
: I hope you are all having blessed weekends and I'll see you all later on! I've gotta go for now.
: Tight hugs,
: ~Teacher
; Sorry to hear about you and your dog. I got a little to excited earlier this week and fell down our basement stairs. I was scared too that something may have happened to the baby but sure enough I was ok. However I do have a rather large bruise on my butt and some scapes on my arm. But baby is most important. I hope you and your dog are calm now and feeling better. Hope the rest of your weekend gets better.
