: Im from the UK.....
: right this is what happend:
: oct 9th last year my waters broke so me and the hubby went up to the hospital bags packed etc. Because i had no contractions they sent me home and said if i dont go in to labor within 24 hours come back and we will start you off.
: 6am on the 10th oct, was my due date and my contractions started 1 min apart so we rushed to hospital we got to the labor ward and a midwife said " We got no room" in a really rude way. my mother warned her that im quick to give birth and better find room or the baby be born on the floor. So the midwife found a bed from a coridoor and put it in a birthing room. to our supprise this room was bare had nothing in it apart from the bed she took in. shes gone to see how much i was dilated but the baby head was already crowned she paniced and ran out of the room to get the stuff to deliver my baby after 2 pushes my baby girl came into the world at 6:25am. they wrapped her up passed her to me delivered my afterbirth checked me to see if i needed stiches and off she went, she didnt even weigh the baby, no crib was in the room either she we had to hold her, they never cleaned my bed just left me sitting there in blood and fluid. my mum cleaned what she could up while i showered. by now i was so upset i wanted to go home, so i asked when i could they said when the baby is 3 hours old. when the 3 hours were up a nurse came in weighed the baby and took her temp, her temp was really low and she started to go blue as the room was freezing. they went and found a crib & a heater and put the crib at the end of my bed wiv the heater i couldnt lay down as the crib was there. thankfully after a few hours the baby warmed up and they sent us packing, they didnt even show me how to breastfeed. i was so upset and discusted the way i was teated i phoned up a complants offier at the hospital and he told me to write it all down and send it to him. But i never got round to it looking after my 6 yr old and the baby plus we moved house i never had the time. do ya reckon its too late now? its been almost 10 months, my hubby said last night that we should at least try.
: BTW when i spoke to that officer he said that room never gets used due to the fact the heating was at fault and didnt work.
: anyway thanks for reading sorry its long
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I sure would have raised hell with them!!They damn sure could have had a mal-practice on their hands if anything happened to that baby because of poor and inadequate facilities and treatment. No, I don't believe it is too late to do anything about it.And I really think you should push to have something done about it.You never know, they could be treating others the same way.
