My great aunt's home was right off Ocean Drive right across the screen from Spawn Hospital. However, she just died this last year and so most of our family is no longer in that area. However, friends of the family are definitely still there. Most of our family is now in the Houston area.
We've read diaries that my aunt and great grandmother wrote while they stayed in their homes during hurricanes. There was so much devastation. I never understood why they didn't pack up and go for a day or two--they always stuck it out, boarded up windows, etc.
