I read your post below about your name problems. I think if you really like that name you should stick with it. However, many kids get their nicknames from their middle name - that might be something to consider?
If I have a daughter someday I would give her the middle name Lorraine (after my grandmother - who I consider my mother). I was thinking if I got pregnant this month and the baby was a girl who would be born in April, I'd call her April Lorraine. What do you think? My last name is only one syllable so I feel like the first name has to be more than one syllable.
