I don't think that's strange at all. When I was doing mission work overseas I was able to witness how natural breastfeeding is among the women of a less "civilized" country. They will breastfeed for MUCH longer than women in the states, do. Some women just gross out when they hear of breastfeeding to 2 or 3. I'm not sure what grosses them out, though. I've considered what all can be bothering them, but our bodies were made to breastfeed. Many moons ago we didn't have milk at grocery stores or formula, etc. Don't sweat other's opinions. It sounds like you did what was best for you.
