: Hello all,
: I have a question, I am currently 35 weeks pregnant, and over the weekend went into the hospital for pre term labor, my contraction got to 2-5 min apart and I dialated to 2cm. They gave me some brethine and IV fluids and stopped the contractions. I am back at home now with a perscription of brethine for 10 days. and my doctor wants me in his office Friday for a non stress test.. Can anyone give me any information on the non stress test, what is it, why do I have to have it, and what will the outcome be.. The doctor also told me that once my perscription is up and if I go into labor again then we will have a baby.. He said they like to wait til patiens are at least 36 weeks.. any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Don't worry, the non-stress test is a piece of cake. I had it with both of my kids. My latest was with my daughter and it actually determined that I was in labor and sent me off to have my little girl 2wks. early.
All it does is monitor your contractions if any, and the baby's heart rate and movement to make sure everything is how it should be.
Good luck.
